Have you ever been to an event and needed a reason to start a conversation with another attendee? Have no fear, Topi is here! Before introducing yourself, the Topi app allows you to access relevant content about the event and the people attending, to encourage engagement.
Topi searches LinkedIn and Facebook profiles to let attendees find interesting people to connect with. One of it’s coolest features, “geo-fencing”, allows guests to search other attendees physically located at their event. Once guests have created their own profile, Topi offers a “WhatsApp” style chat for both 1×1 and group discussions.
Eventurously recently sat down with Topi’s COO Eric Francois to learn more about what they do, and how they’re currently transforming the event technology industry…
Eventurously: What Is Your Favorite Topi Feature?
Topi (Eric): Difficult to decide – there are a few! Debating between geo-fencing and interest-based group conversations… hum. Will go with the chat rooms. They’re meaningful because it is replicating in the app the way we meet new people in real life – it almost always starts in groups (before moving to a 1×1 format) and having a “connector” is essential to break the ice or simply to keep the conversation going.
E: What Topi Accomplishment Are You Most Proud Of So Far?
T: Also a few of course – we’re a young company so all major milestones mean a lot. I will say being selected as the official networking app for Social Media Week comes very high up on my list. It is a global, well-known event with a wonderful, tight community and we were proud to add our technology to further engage its members.
E: What’s Next For Topi?
T: A very long list of improvements and cutting edge features. We’re very tech focused but also cognizant that whatever we do needs to have value for event goers, event planners, sponsors, etc. For example live translations in chats – cutting edge and at the same time valuable for attendees from all over the world to interact. All items on our roadmap fulfill this key goal. We love to push the envelop and collaborate with creative minds… so watch out for many cool features soon.
