People are always asking us what they can do to make their event pop…

Here are 5 of our favorite add-ons that have

been the highlight of parties we’ve worked on!

Photo booths are on our list of favorites, and companies like The Bosco and PHHHOTO have taken it to another level with their booth that creates animated gif images. Yes, it’s a gif making photo booth and it’s the ultimate fun party toy. The iPad camera starts a countdown and then records a few seconds of footage, which are looped into a GIF and uploaded online. You can beam them onto a wall with a projector at the event, share them on social media or browse them from your phone from a custom URL.

At the Urban Compass holiday party, the gif booth was the only camera that people lined up for.

If you have the budget, consider hiring a mixologist to make specialty cocktails during your event. Mixologists are versed in the craft of mixing drinks and use fresh ingredients and herbs to concoct them. We believe it’s the best use of your budget once you’ve secured the basics like venue and food. A Great American Gibson, a Cranberry Colins, or a Smoky Negroni, who wouldn’t dig that?

Music brings a certain energy to your event unlike anything else you can do. A solo cellist, a jazz pianist, a string quartet, take your pick of live music or go with a DJ. Our friends over at Gigzolo take the work out of finding the right musician. Their site is an online marketplace where you identify, listen to, and book musicians and live entertainment for events in NYC.

Everyone needs some black lights in their life now and again. We had a client who wanted something edgy for their event, so we created a blackout themed party using only black lights to light the space. We had glow sticks and white decor that gave the space an exciting vibe.

Bubbles may be primarily for kids but they’re fun at any age. One of our favorite out of the box add-ons has been a bubble show- so get creative and try something new for your next gig.

Work Out. Sweat It Out.

Let’s be honest – we’ve all made excuses not to go to the gym. “But I’m tired.” “But I need a manicure.” “But I missed Game of Thrones and need to watch it before I read what happens on Facebook.”

Since starting Eventurously, we’ve struggled with making fitness a priority in our daily routines. We easily get caught up in our work, and attend networking events in the afternoons/nights. But since starting to work for ourselves, we’ve realized that it’s vital to take a break during our busy day to get physical and work up a sweat. As the great Matthew McConaughey says, “sweat every day, no matter what”.

While writing this blog post, we turned to our friend Miki Agrawal and her book “Do Cool Sh*t” for our “startup sweat” inspiration. She writes about the healthy components of staying in shape, and the importance of physically pushing yourself for mental healthiness. It’s not diet and exercise, she says. It’s the ability to mentally reframe these terms and think about them in a whole new way. “Reframe the word diet and use the word power. Reframe the word exercise and use the word release”.

Since taking her advice, we’ve incorporated a “startup sweat” session into our daily routines. Some may find an easy “fix” like wearing Spanx or baggy clothes, but at some point sooner or later we’re going to have to get naked, and we may not be alone. We have found that the easiest way to get to the gym and boost our individual confidence and motivation is the support from one another. Finding a gym partner not only makes sweating more fun, but also holds each party accountable for going to the gym.

Working out releases endorphins (natural uppers), and relieves stress and tension to improve your mood. So think of working out as a way powering up your body and releasing all the bad toxins – definitely something you don’t want to avoid!

Now think…how are YOU powering up your body on a daily basis?

Happy National Tortilla Chip Day!

Today is National Tortilla Chip Day, so in order to properly celebrate this holy holiday, let us tell you about our journey to finding the best tortilla chip.

The Quest For The Best Tortilla Chip (as told by Amanda Drewek)

What is the first thought that comes to mind when you hear the words “tortilla chip”? You are probably picturing yourself staring at a bowl of these chips wondering how to use that chip to get the most dip into your mouth, right?  Have you ever thought about the best tortilla chip to make that happen? I obviously have. Naturally, I first thought Tostitos Scoops.

It was a Sunday night around 8PM as I pulled out some Scoops and fresh salsa. On my first bite, I had the most dip any girl in her mid-20s could dream of on one scoop. As the glorious chip approached my mouth, sadness mixed with frustration kicked in as I realized I couldn’t fit the whole scoop in my mouth. Was I supposed to break the scoop in half? Was I supposed to use less dip?

This was when I realized that my relationship with Tostitos Scoops had to end. The next day, I was off to the grocery store. This search for the best tortilla chip quickly turned into something worse than searching for your soulmate on Tinder. I was on a mission, and there was nothing getting in my way.

After hours of taste testing and interviewing, with a couple of breaks of watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians, I realized it wasn’t the Tostitos brand that I had a problem with, it was Tostitos Scoops!! There was no reason to completely cut ties with the entire family.

I was proud to finally present the Best Tortilla Chip Award to…drumroll please…Tostitos STRIPS. The long strips allowed me to maximize the amount of dip on my chip, and less on my fingers,  easily letting me scoop the last delicious bites of the dip from the bowl. Tostitos Strips FOR THE WIN.

Your Living Eventurously’s Takeaway

If you’re looking to maximize your chip dipping experience to its full potential, our internal Tortilla expert Amanda suggests you go with Tostitos Strips to make this happen.
